If the many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is true - this would actually work.
If the machine kills every “version” of you in the multiverse that hasn’t won a particular lottery draw then subjectively you would wake up in only the universes in which you had won.
Although thinking about it, there is probably more chance of the machine breaking down than there is of winning the lottery, so the most likely outcome is waking up to a malfunctioning machine…
